Ha mine did this exact same thing. I ended up getting a searwood, but I did figure out that ash can build up between the firebox and the bottom of the frame. Unscrew down where the water pan is to take out the bottom panel.
Of course I never got around to testing if that was the problem.

Is it burning back into the auger chamber? What’s the fire look like in the bottom of the smoke chamber (ie is it staying in the recessed pot?)
Is the fan running?
Adding a few pictures. This is the smoke box, and the auger outlet after 0-400 wings. Aside from the stray pellets, everything else look ok?
I did notice, I didn’t taste much smoke flavor at all.
