I have some meat that's seasoned well by my mom (idk what meat it is. It's a read meat, because it's definitely not chicken or anything like that), chopped a bit of celery, potatoes, and threw in a few carrots as well (yes they're baby carrots. I just found them, and didn't care, theres a lot of them anywyas, so, i figured why not). I didn't add water, but it seems to be doing okay so far.

Is it okay as it is and I can leave it? Should I add a little bit just in case?

I checked an old reddit post from like 2015 and it said some people add a little, some people don't, etc. But it was I believe for chicken iirc.

Just wanna make sure because I have it on low to cook for maybe 6 to 8 hours, and I wanna go on a walk right now, so, I don't wanna leave it unattended and have it NOT end up how I wanted, or anything like that.

  1. Nah. Let it ride. I usually add some low sodium beef stock before, but if it’s red meat there should be enough juices flowing. Each time you take the lid off you add more time and lose moisture.

If you put zero water and it’s just meat and veg, then I’d put in a cup of some form of liquid (water/broth/etc). I always do at least a splash when using the crockpot.

I’m no expert, but I’ve always put at least a few cups of water in. Probably be fine, but I’d put in at least a half cup.

Just an fyi…it looks like your lid might be fastened.

If so, you should know that fastening lids on slow cookers is for when they are being transported. It’s not recommended to fasten the glass lid when the cooker is cooking.

I’d add like just maybe a cup of broth

A cup of boxed wine then put some in an empty soda can for the walk.

  7. Crockpots can crack if heated with no liquid. I always add a couple cups to prevent this.

Half a cup of beef broth is all you need for 8 hours. I swear. Put everything in and walk away. Just check the timer. Don’t open the lid.

I do not add water. It is best to put the meat fatty side up so the fat juices cook down through the meat leaving it extra juicy. When you add liquids it boils the meat and makes it tough. When I put veggies in i put the harder ones on bottom under meat, like potatoes. Carrots in the middle around meat, onions on top of meat.

Please don’t add cold water or broth, only hot. Thermal shock could break the insert.

I don’t add water. The meat produces enough juices.

  12. This depends on a number of factors.. what type of shoes will you be wearing on this walk? And how steep of an incline is this journey as well.

Without this information it’s nearly impossible to give you definitive answers to your question .

  13. My slow cooker doesn’t have any lid catches. How can I make it more dangerous please…?
