They are super convenient for lunch at work and easy dinners. I like this one but it's like $5/pouch https://www.fillos.com/products/peruvian-lentils-sofrito

  1. Is there any particular reason you can’t make your own large batch of lentils, season them, and split them up into bags to freeze for your lunches? That would be the cheapest option.

Yeah the best and cheapest would be making them yourself and seasoning to your liking and then freezing in individual portions. You can put them in the work freezer and warm them up.

I like divya brand. They do a bunch of curries. There’s a dal makhani one that’s lentils.

Apparently Patak’s has some now. I’ll have to try them as that brand is generally nice.

No they’re not cheap because packaged prepared foods just aren’t

Make your own, freeze in individual portions and you can get 5 portions for $5 easy

I love how anytime someone posts something like this, a bunch of people chime in and say make your own, etc. Buy a canning machine? Cripes. Just answer the person’s question. Not everyone wants to spend extra time making stuff and going through all that rigmarole.

Anyhow. If you have a Sprouts near you, they have their own brand of chickpeas in various flavors. The Al Pastor and Moroccan Spiced ones are good stuff. Don’t quote me on it, but I want to say they are two for five or six bucks.

Trader Joe’s canned lentils ($.99, no can opener needed) and packets of hot sauce are my go to
