I don’t know it, but buy it. Perfect for a dinner party. People that know wine will see CdP and will assume you brought something good.

$10 is a ridiculously low price, I’d buy all of it off the shelf.

I have never tried specifically that wine, but CdP for €10 should probably always be considered a bargain.

That’s a good price. It’s a negociant bottling if I remember correctly. I bought and enjoyed the 2007.

That is a very good price for Châteauneuf-du-Pape of any kind.

Oh that’s one I know. Quite decent wine for the normal price. For 10 bucks it’s great. Nothing too special but good value which is perfect for a spontaneous dinner.

  6. There is no Chateauneuf du Pape that I wouldn’t buy for 10 dollars even if it just drinks like a heavier Côtes du Rhône. People will think you are fancy as well.

  7. It’s a wine cooperative in southern Rhone pretty decent wine for the price. At 10 I will buy as much as they have

I’ve never seen Kaufland on this sub, but for €10 you can’t go wrong.

Yeah just look up the flavor profile and repeat it when you put it down in the table so you sound like you’ve drank it before. Works every time

2022 was not the best year in France…massive heatwave and no rain for almost 6 month in the south… So this might not be the best wine of the last 10 years but it still good to drink.
Just don’t try to age it more than 3/4years.

Even in France is hard to find a CdP for less than 19€. Cool find.

$10 CdP is insane, even if it’s not that good. Please let us know how it is!

Hey I’ve had that before and paid a lot more for it.

I can definitely recommend it, I drank 3/4 of a bottle with some homemade short rib and had the time of my life

  14. Never heard of it, but I’ve never found a CdP for $10 in the US, so I would buy it all.

  15. unclefire

Buy them all. They’re probably totally fine to drink and at $10 it’s worth the risk.

My guess is that it’s not going to suck. I’d get 3 or more myself. If it’s at least pleasant, you’re practically stealing it.

  17. passamongimpure

It’s for the Pope, so you should probably leave it alone unless you want to go to Hell.

They listed the original price at $19.99. Even if this wine sucks… And the vintage and producer lead me to believe it might… There is no way in hell that $19.99 was the original price. This is a pricing error. I would buy all of them.

  20. Similar to 10€ Barolo or Champagne, you can expect the appellation’s minimum standard to guarantee you’re getting great value there even if it won’t be a profound and unique experience.

Well, it’s at least topical (“The Pope’s new castle”)

  22. Interesting how they end up in the US. We are now in CdP and we drove last week past this wine cellar in Courthézon. Quite a big place they have and I’m pretty sure it’s cheaper than what we would pay here haha.

Cellier des Princes is excellent value, especially the CdP. The store I work at had the price drop down to $26 (original $40) and I ended up picking up most of the remaining stock myself. Keep in mind, you’re not exactly getting Beaucastel here, but at $10 (holy smokes what a deal) you shouldn’t be expecting that. Absolutely buy it.
