My mom for some reason told me to bake pizza on oiled baking parchment instead of just backing tray… ALL of it got stuck and I had to rip it off piece by piece 🙁

Are you sure you used parchment paper and not waxed paper? It’s an easy common mistake to make, although you tend to only make it once.

It doesn’t seem likely that parchment paper & oil would cause sticking. Are you sure you didn’t use wax paper?

Are you absolutely sure you used parchment paper and not wax, OP? Because this really shouldn’t happen with parchment paper, oiled or not.

Like seriously, I need to see a pic of the type of paper you actually used before I can actually commit to a judgement.

While I agree with other people that oil and parchment paper shouldn’t stick I more so agree with you that a baking tray is the way GOD intended us to make pizzas

Show us the exact parchment paper you used

Probably made cleaning the pan a breeze though.

No need to oil it. I have baked many pizzas on parchment with no problems.

  9. Weird how everyone is questioning the use of paper and suddenly OP is *really* quiet. We need answers, dammit!

  10. Parchment paper is literally made to bake things on…

Parchment never sticks (treated with silicon), you used wax paper and that will stick to anything as soon as you heat it up.

you used the wrong kind of paper.

Also you don’t need to oil anything when bakeing a pizza. Nor do you need any kind of wax or parchment paper. My pizzas don’t stick to what they are cooking on. Roll the dough out on a counter with flour and semolina/cornmeal. Never had a pizza stick.

Either you used the wrong paper (wax?) Or your temp was too high for the parchment paper.

I have done exactly this with a very promising sheet pan pizza

Your pizza having whole thick slices of ham is more of a crime here. You’re eating pizza not a sandwich.

  17. The real crime here is the bologna… Unless you’re in Hawaii

you definitely used wax paper which isn’t parchment paper.

I don’t know why everyone here is recommending alternative papers / trays; I always put my straight onto the oven rack. Gets crispier that way. I’ve even tried a pizza stone and I’m not convinced it was any better than rack.
