Honestly it's pretty damn good! I'm always hearing and how people don't like them, so I had to try them for myself. I picked out the Louisiana hot sauce since it was on sale and it has a pretty good contrast to the fishy taste. What are some of y'all's favorites I want to try some more.

King Oscar is awesome for the price, the Mediterranean style are my favorite
This is closer to what I grew up eating on hunting and fishing trips. If these are good for you, will will be delighted when you go up the scale of canned fish that is available.
I think the go-to answer for where to start for sardines is to try Nuri’s, which are excellent. I like their “in spiced olive oil”.
You should also try some other canned fish. If you want to treat yourself, and since you like the hot sauce, get a can of Wildfish’s smoked Coho in habanero sauce.
Seems the best kind of that brand
if you liked these, try the 555 Hot and Spicy Fried Sardines. those are awesome
Welcome to the wonderful world of canned fish!!! I started with the exact same tin as you many years ago, and it’s sparked a bit of an obsession these days.
For the price, I’ve been really digging the Brunswick dines in olive oil. The king Oscar with spicy peppers also go hard. Nuri are excellent, but not worth the price premium imo, even King Oscar hurts to buy sometimes for me
I’ve found large whole cuts in oil to be my favorite. I like to drain just a little oil out, add some soy sauce and sriracha and eat out of the can or dump over rice. The liquid at the bottom is a gold mine of flavor.
AFAIK, beach cliff is one of the very low tier brands. You’ll be surprised as how much better they get haha. Try King Oscar next (most grocery stores will have them) and then Nuri from amazon.
The Louisana hot sauce sardines are pretty good. You picked a good one to start with imo. Now might want to try some packed in olive oil.
i have an aversion to Beach Cliff brand sardines in general, but haven’t tried these ones yet and think i’d actually like them. glad that you did!
probably not a bad tin to start with, i’d suggest King Oscar next
Rabbit hole, engaged. 😂
These are some of my favorite ones to stock up on. For me there’s definitely diminishing returns on deens. The super fancy ones arent that much better to me, but it’s nice having a couple pricier tins mixed in.
I can really only eat the hot sauce ones, I like fish in moderation and idk if it’s the taste of or me just feeling like a giant eating little people but I start to dig it a lot less on the second half of the can. I tried the mustard ones (beach cliff fish steaks” and could not hold it down. Tomato sauce ones seem pretty popular on this subreddit too
I have been a sardines and hot sauce on crackers person my whole life (thanks, Dad!) but only recently tried them with good dijon mustard and now I’m obsessed. I crave it all the time now. Gotta have that wasabi/horseradish kind of kick, and on good bread!
