Vertical is fine. But if you are already having problems with a Pit Boss, why would you consider another one.

Traeger, GMG, RECTEQ, Weber, Grilla Grills.
Vertical is really meant for jerkey, Ribs, and Bulk Pork. I honestly don’t like it for the day to day, plus messing with a water pan and all that every time gets a bit old. Do some research and look at recteq and GMG. Recteq has a cool bullet smoker if you want to be cheap. But they also have some nice stuff for lower budgets.
GMG I think is solid budget too. More traditional builds.
