1 Tbsp crushed garlic
Juice of ½ a lemon

2-3 cups short grain rice
Large palm full of diced meat
1 onion diced
4 bunches of cilantro diced
1/2 cup of oil

I time it that the halte Svo is in the steamer 3-4 hours before Shabbat starts. Then, once Shabbat starts I put the steamer on a hot plate to continue cooking all night until lunch time.Eggs, potatoes and sweet potatoes may be added to the steamer with the halte Svo, to be enjoyed with at lunch time.

Tiramisu Recipe:

2 eggs
1/3 cup sugar + 1 tbsp
2 packs lady fingers
1 small richs whip

Beat 2 egg whites till fluffy then add 1 tbsp sugar and mix for few more min set aside.
In another bowl mix egg yolks with 1/3 cup sugar and set aside. In a third bowl mix defrosted richs whip until fluffy then add parve cream cheese and mix in egg yolk mixture and mix well. Add the egg white mixture to the yolk mixture by folding it in.

  1. This was so wonderful, Sonya. Thank you!! I'm one of your Christian subscribers who's kept Sabbath (my term) for years. As an introverted intuitive, I find that I need this time to recharge and realign my soul before heading back into the world. Your videos are so helpful with this. Much love to you and you family! Ruth

  2. I've never seen food cooked in a cloth bag before. I couldn't figure out how to spell it. I would like to know what it's called, and I definitely want to try it.

  3. My mouth is watering Sonya yummy. I made me very very hungry. Shabbat Shalom to you all and God Bless You✡️💙✡️💙

  4. I love coming here for homemaking inspiration and education. My own mother was never well, so I did not get to learn much from her and am self-taught. It is so helpful to watch how you multitask and make everything come together! Thank you, Sonya!

  5. I thought it was just me. I've told people that I taste the metal with canned goods also I taste a funny chemical taste on any rice that is already prepared and all you do is microwave it. I also look for alternate packaging ie: glass frozen. I wanted to tell you that Amazon has this round ultrasound device for washing fruits and veg. You can recharge it. They sell for around $10. You put your produce in plain water and I let it run 10 mins. You would be shocked at what is on the bottom of the water bowl. The ultrasound also breaks down bacteria and pesticides.

  6. Definitely gonna try the tiramisu. I'll just pray I'm not the only one who will end up eating it. My 20yo is still picky but I think she will like it. Blessings from us to yours!

  7. This was a wonderful video! Such beautiful dishes were so thoughtfully prepared. You inspire me to cook every time I watch you. I hope to visit Bingo one day to try some of the interesting things they have.

  8. For everyday cooking, I stand the entire time.. For holidays and special occasions, I alternate; I plan for specific tasks that can be done sitting..

  9. I loved watching this video, it was wonderful, thank you! The Hawaiji flavour beef soup looks absolutely amazing, I’d love to try that – all those seasonings, I bet it smells and tastes delicious- and so nutritious! I was also interested to see your steamed dishes, they reminded me a little of a traditional Scottish pudding called Clootie Dumpling- it’s a kind of cake stuffed with dried fruit and either boiled or steamed in a bag similar to the ones you used.
You’re so talented- thank you, as always, for giving us an insight into your kitchen and your culture. Your videos are a joy ❤

  10. Sonya! Your videos, this one in particular, are beautiful. What I mean by this is the act of cooking and baking in the way that you do turns your kitchen into a temple-like place with an atmosphere filled with love and worship. It is a holy place. You cook with and from your heart. Your food must be delicious because it is made with love. May God continue to bless you and your family ❤

  11. Your family has been so gracious to put yourselves out there to educate and share. Is there ever anything that happens that just makes you shake your head and laugh because it's absurd?

  12. I'm learning a lot by watching your videos. It's helping me to try other recipes; as well as learning about various cooking techniques. 😊

  13. I like making sushi bowls- California roll is a good one. I warm up a pouch of coconut rice, add chopped cucumber, chopped avocado, chopped cooked shrimp, chopped imitation crab meat, cubed salmon or tuna, and add yum yum sauce.

  14. I love your videos.
I don't know how you get ut all done.
    Besutiful and interesting food.
I'm interested in what country you and your husbands' family from.
Bukharian is a term which encompasses a lot.
Thank you for sharing all that you do❤

  15. Hi Sonja great video thankyou. I would have loved to have seen the food you made in the bags😢 im not Jewish but I love your videos. Much love from South Africa ❤❤❤

  16. Carrot overboard 😀thanks for another slice of calmness and new ideas! I appreciate the soothing music and your systematic yet smiley approach. As for your question – yes, I also stand while cooking, there is not even a chair in my small kitchen. We sit together during traditional meal preparation with my family (Christmas or Easter cookies or potato salad for Christmas dinner).
Wishing you all the best !

  17. I made the salad dressing you made for the cabbage
I put it on an iceberg tomato, lettuce, cucumber salad, since I had no cabbage
I was blown away. It was amazingly delicious. Thank you so much for sharing.

  18. Hi Sonya, thank you for the new yummy recipes!🤩 I admire how much you can cook! Does the family really eat all of that? If there is any food left, what do you do with it – freeze it? I also wanted to ask about seafood. Can you eat seafood (octopus, crab, shrimp…)? I thought that according to the books of Moses, no. We don't eat them, for example. Have a great week! S.🤗

  19. @sonya’s prep is it a blueberry crumb cake in the video? Please post a recipe, thank you for a wonderful video of authentic and modern mix of deishes, as always

  20. Hi Sonya, just wanted to give a quick tip, if you write on your meat bags before putting anything in them the writing pen won't stop the ink. I had trouble with this myself and found it worked much better. ☺️👍

Love your videos as always, they are a joy to watch! God bless you and your beautiful family 💖

P.S. Chai trying to steal the cut veggies 😆
