Like many here have expressed hesitation about trying their first sardines, I felt that way about cod liver. In fact, I was pretty sure I would hate it, but I also wanted to try it. When u/hobohobbies gave me this can of Minnow cod liver, it was my chance to take the plunge, once and for all.
I suspected that it would be the texture more than the taste that would not appeal to me (and I must say that its appearance didn't help at all), but I took a tiny taste straight from the can. Indeed, that texture was a bit, uh, liver-y. I decided I needed a base for it that had as much texture as possible. Sigdal Everything crispbreads, which are super seedy, did the trick. I spread the liver on and topped with pickled onions and relish.
Next I put some on Kettle dill pickle chips, and I didn't even need the relish. Perfect crunchy combo for hiding the livery-ness.
By the time I finished those, the amazing richness and flavor had won me over, and I was scraping the corners of the can with a finger and licking it off. I have been converted after only one can! Thank you, u/hobohobbies, for the nudge!

Love cod liver! And it’s really good for you, chock full of Vitamin A and D!
Interesting. What is the price of these tins approximately? I wonder if I can find them here in Greece.
I wanna try
This sounds right up my alley, I’ll have to see if any is available nearby.
[This is my favourite cod liver recipe](https://www.gw2ru.com/russian-kitchen/2028-colonel-salad-man-dish-cod-liver-soviet-recipe-photos)
I’m glad it grew on you! I liked it from the first bite but I am a fan of liver. It is so rich and creamy!
I love liver and I love canned fish but I’m also weirdly reluctant to try cod liver! This is a super inspiring post!
I’ve never seen this but I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Huge fan – saltine with some good butter, hit 100% of your saturated fat in one tin lol
