I think that’s supposed to be a serving dish for things like dry snacks and fresh fruit, not a plate. The sides look like they come up too high. I could be wrong though.
Also, it’s most likely just a coincidence that the shape of an apple with a bite taken out of it happens to look like the logo for Apple.
