Maybe I’m going crazy because it’s the end of the school year… do my eyes deceive me? Did they not only increase the prices but also downsize their salad portion? 🤔 (Chopped Salad and Small drink for comparison)

And the redesigned “cute” dressing holder takes away more room

PE does what a PE does. Portillo’s is a spot I will go to in a pinch, but no longer a destination for me.

  3. Lettuce costs so much. /s Of course they downsized it. Just waiting for them to make a hotdog the diameter of a slim jim.

  4. oh it’s been downsizing unfortunately, you are absolutely not going crazy. our money is worth less each year, only for us to have to spend more money than last year, on less food than last year.

praise red hot ranch and the costco hot dog

Did they change the milkshake last week or did I just get a bad one?

    Shrinkflation is real.

Wait until you get underwhelmed with their milkshake

  7. Burger or a Maxwell only for me these days. Both go through the broiler mechanically; both have an advertised precooked weight that is required to be followed; both have basic condiments that are easy to get right. Both are still awesome!

  8. $16 ($20 on Uber) for a 2 hot dog combo… I’m good.

Interesting maybe I’ll get it now., it was previously an absurd size, more than should be eaten at a single serving, and loaded with tons of unhealthy calorie dense things. But if it’s half the size, it might be ok as an occasional choice.

Food all around is shrinking again. I’ve noticed it with my favorite brand of maple syrup, the bottle is smaller, and the large bags of chips have shrunk….

I hope someone makes a post about Portillos tomorrow.

Everything is. Bot some breaded frozen fish. Used to be 10 pieces, now 8, more $.

They downsized everything. Welcome to hedge fund ownership. The customer comes last.

It’s crazy when you can get a Lou’s chopped salad from Lou Malnati’s and it’s twice the size. Portillo salad was always a fave but I can’t justify it anymore

I refuse to go to Portillo when local options exist. That PE firm can bugger off.

This copycat recipe is identical to the portillos salad … And I don’t mean sort of or kind of. I mean it is identical in every way. It’s shocking. I make it every few months. For the price of 2 salads at portillos you can make like 20 servings of this stuff.

The dressing holds for like a month (that’s the longest I’ve had it last before using it all when making giant batches) in the fridge too.

It is now requested at parties and holidays regularly. And so so simple.

Jim’s original pork chop sandwich too. They used to be pretty thick, now they’re they thickness of a single smash burger

Portillos sucks so much now. Their hotdogs are so much lower quality and they’re always strangely damp when I get them.

    Fuck private equity!

Who the fuck goes to Portillo’s for their salad?!

  20. Damn, when I used to work at Portillo’s the salads were huge (2003). We would have a few pre-made for drive thru and got to take any extras home after close. Would fill me up as a post-shift meal

  21. truferblue22

It’s called Shrinkflation. Many companies are doing it.

The yellow tint on that lettuce….
