Just inherited my late father’s XL BGE. Mom wasn’t using it and she thought it would be better put to use with me. I dabbled in using it a little bit at their house but not much so I’m excited to really get into it. Especially for making pizza!

One thing I’m not sure about is the wood underneath the egg was pretty charred. I don’t know if the stone tiles were used before or after the damaged wood but I’m thinking of getting some kind of riser to get it lifted an inch or two

Get the small stand to go under it. $40 at BGE dealer.

I just got the same setup, xl with a table, a few weeks ago.

Get the stand for the table, is not much money, but you will need help putting it in place.

Enjoy the new egg. I have been making everything I can on mine.

  4. There needs to be an air gap between the egg and the tiles. It will help prevent cracking of the outer shell base and provide excellent insulation tor the wood under the tile. That way the tile will be exposed to radiant heat only, not direct contact and the egg will have more protection. BGE sells feet for this purpose. You have a great looking cooking space btw.
