Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25–30 minutes
Total Time: 40–45 minutes
Servings: 6–8 slices
Ingredients:
• 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade)
• 1 cup cooked ground beef or sausage
• ½ cup pepperoni slices (optional)
• ½ cup chopped bell peppers
• ½ cup chopped onions
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
• ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
• ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
• ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)
• 1 tsp Italian seasoning
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Filling: In a skillet, sauté onions and bell peppers over medium heat until soft (about 5 minutes). Add cooked ground meat, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.
3. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle (approx. 10”x14”).
4. Assemble Bread: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Evenly distribute the meat mixture, pepperoni, olives, and shredded cheeses on top.
5. Roll & Seal: Carefully roll the dough lengthwise like a jelly roll. Pinch the seam and ends to seal tightly. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
6. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
7. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and firm. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
8. Serve: Slice and serve warm with marinara sauce on the side.
Chef’s Tips:
• You can customize the filling with whatever leftovers you have—chopped chicken, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, etc.
• Avoid overfilling to prevent the dough from tearing.
• For a crispier crust, bake directly on a pizza stone.
