It really is that good. I wouldn’t get in a comically long line for it, but it really is great. It only has normal ingredients, but everything is dialed into perfection in flavor, texture, and composition. It doesn’t promise to change your life, but it doesn’t need to. Don’t go out of your way for it, but don’t miss it.

I broke veg to try one and I was disappointed. I dont eat a lot of meat but to me it tasted like artisan Wendy’s.

I thought it was decent. 7th st and Gotham are both better IMO but I would definitely still go back if I was in the area
If you’re feeling especially indulgent walk over to morgansterns after 🤪 the raspberry black sesame is my favorite, probably.

It’s mediocre even with Motz himself on the grill. Pretty much like any other smash burger, they’re all essentially the same – Pat LaFrieda, Martins, American cheese, condiments, onions.
This city has reached saturation long ago with these. If I had to say there is a better casual option, it would be Gotham or Burgerhead but I’d sooner walk to Emily or Minetta and pay twice as much.

Honestly one of my favs. I’d probably put Harlem shake above it, but I wouldn’t put 7th Street or Gotham above Hamburger America.

We went there on our trip, showed up around 1:30. Walked in and ordered instantly. Was packed but we sat outside, it’s right next to a playground which made my kids happy.
Got to meet Motz and got all three styles of burgers.
We all enjoyed it, we’re a smash burger family.
My kids were over the moon with happiness. They’re ages 6 & 3. We had to get a fourth burger for them.
I also enjoyed the cold miller high life with the burger greatly.

Hamburger America is trash. Leave it for the tourists

I think it is solid, I just wish it was a bit bigger. I end up getting 2.
Their weekly burgers are usually good too. I liked the Krabby Patty they did for Spongebob 25

Completely overhyped garbage, no stars whatsoever due to the expectations. Saltless, dry, ground meat with vague grilled onion flavor.

don’t get the hype, wasn’t worth the wait or the hassle.

My most recent visit has made me label them as inconsistent. I’ve probably eaten there close to ten times since they’ve opened. I’ve gotten lots of the specials and usually a single fried onion burger with friest. The fries are the same.
I’ve always eaten at the counter and my most recent visit was the first time they didn’t actually make my burger at the front grill. And it wasn’t as good as previous times. I agree with others that it may have been under seasoned. Maybe they ran out of Lawry’s or something.
I’ll try them again but only if the special looks really good. I probably won’t recommend them anymore.
