Baklava is one of my favorite desserts and I saw this easy method from on Good Morning America awhile back. Made it so much easier than buttering each sheet like a usual baklava! This method + my recipe is absolutely delicious and a real crown pleaser.
1lb box of phyllo (9’’x14’’, room temperature)
1 cup ghee, melted slightly
-for simple syrup-
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup water
2tbsp lemon juice
2tbsp honey
-for sugared nuts-
2 cups raw walnuts
1 cup pistachios
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Make simple syrup by adding all ingredients under “-for simple syrup-“ into a small saucepan on medium heat. Stir and allow to come to a boil. Once boiling, put heat on low and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
3. Mix all ingredients under “-for sugared nuts-“ in a food processor or blender slightly so they are roughly chopped. If you don’t have a food processor or blender, use a rolling pan to smash.
4. Brush ghee on the bottom of a 9×13 baking sheet. Add about 20 phyllo sheets to bottom of baking sheet. Add nuts/sugar mixture and spread. Add remaining phyllo sheets on top (about 15-20).
5. Cut baklava into diamond shapes. Be sure to cut all the way through the bottom layer.
6. Pour 1 cup of melted ghee over baklava evenly. Allow to settle for about 5 minutes before placing in oven and baking for about 60 minutes or until fully golden brown.
7. Remove from oven and immediately pour cooled simple syrup over baklava. Allow to cool to room temperature before enjoying.

This tip to making the perfect baklava will blow your mind. You’ll start by preheating your oven and then making your simple syrup by combining sugar, water, lemon juice, and honey. Bring it to a boil and then simmer it for 10 minutes before letting it cool completely. Brush some ghee onto your baking sheet before adding your filo dough and then bringing your candied nuts to the party. Add another layer directly on top of your nuts of filo dough and then cut your baklava into diamond shapes. Make sure you really use the point of the knife to get to the bottom layer of that filo dough. Pour your melted ghee over your baklava. Allow it to settle in for about 5 minutes before bringing it to the oven and baking for about 60 minutes. Hit it with your cooled simple syrup right when it comes out of the oven. Absolutely delicious, guys. Full recipe in the caption below. Tho for more.
