Reem’s is a mainstay but not the only attractive spot for Middle Eastern fare in San Francisco.

One of the greatest perks of living in San Francisco is the access to so many international eats. Though dim sum brunch or weeknight hangs at a Burmese restaurant are commonplace, when was the last time you went out for Syrian food? Or Persian food? The term “Middle Eastern” is an imperfect catchall for a broad category of food, and its imprecision can often feel flattening or as a marketing gimmick. But this list is about celebrating our breadth of restaurants, including the Iraqi, Yemeni, Turkish, Israeli, Afghani, Egyptian, Palestinian, Persian, Iranian, and Syrian food options we have in our 7×7 city. Here are 16 of the best options in San Francisco.

This time around, Tuba and Al-Masri came off the list, and Reem’s and Turquaz joined the ranks.
