The first pic looks great but why is that cow still alive in the second one
cambiumkx
First pic looks a little dry
Second pic looks like the cow is trying to run away (unless it’s tuna?)

Never heard of Portuguese steak sandwich. Just make it tasty and a good price and there will be a market for it in NYC.
pejeol
I doesn’t look very good.
Millennium_falco
If you made one similiar to Cervejaria Martins Sports Bar in Guimarães, Portugal I would eat there very frequently.

My dude that second steak is raw
daddadsky
will you also serve bifanas please?
MindoverMattR
Will there be Bifanas on the menu? I’ve been hunting for those sandwiches in NYC to no avail.

What’s the name of the restaurant in the first pic?
dortenzio1991
Leitao in WV has Portuguese sandwiches
NotMugatu
You can keep the second sandwich as far away from nyc as possible.

Shouldn’t it be minute steak or whatever the Portuguese version is with some garlic. Does anywhere in the city serve Francescinhas ?
n_nine
You’re going to have to charge 50 bucks for that if you want to break even
tgandtm
Put a francesinha on the menu and I’m there.

This looks stupid good tbh

Sorry that just looks like steak with a bit of beard around it.

I’m Portuguese and have been in the U.S. for 15 years, with the last 4 in New York. The sandwich looks amazing, but I can’t think of a single Portuguese steak that looks like that. I’m guessing you’re going for a bifana—which I absolutely love—but the steak in the photo doesn’t quite match. Bifana meat is usually much thinner and definitely not served rare or blue like this. I’d eat this sandwich 12 out of 10 times, no question—but I wouldn’t say it feels like a “Portuguese steak sandwich.” Full support regardless, just being honest—it doesn’t really come across as Portuguese from the pic.

Are you going to serve Bifanas too? That would be awesome.
jtfff
If you’re going cook a blue steak, at least give it a sear.
JugurthasRevenge
I like tartar but not in my sandwich wtf
Dark1000
Looks cut way too thick to me. The second way too rare without a good sear. Not that interested in a slab of steak in-between bread. Something a little thinner with something extra, sauce, pickles, etc would be more for me. But that’s just my view.

I was born and raised in Portugal but I’ve lived in NYC for 23 years since.
Are you actually in NYC now? And where exactly are you opening your shop?
Pic 1 looks great. My question is a steak like in the picture (bife de vaca) of good quality is pretty expensive in here.
Pic 2: please don’t.
PS: Podes mandar mensagem privada se quiseres.

Bro that 2nd picture is literally a raw steak lol
CrimsonBrit
Yeah idk how much you like steak. That second picture is a raw steak. You’re not impressing anyone cooking or ordering that. Disgusting.

That Trader Joe’s chili oil is wack. There are so many better ones that you can use
Dudewheresmycah
That sandwich is raw AF. Also use a much thinner cut of steak.
banallthemusic
Francesinha and cacchorino

Am I wrong or does this not look appetizing?

I dig it – would go and I think a lot of other people would too

Not cut or anything? Just like a whole steak on bread ?
cyfn
The only thing that remotely resembles this is prego roll from Jack’s wife Frieda that they claim is “Portuguese skirt steak”
skipmcriff
Sandwich looks like a mess and a textural nightmare. Is it a whole uncut steak on bread?
savestate1
Making bifanas? Those are usually pork not beef.
inthedrops
Hard pass.

red hook tavern burger tastes like a steak between two buns
HolidayNothing171
Whatever you’re eating in that picture does not look good
penceluvsthedick
This doesn’t look good. It just looks like a ribeye between two pieces of bread. While it may taste good it’s not a good sandwich.
Just get yourself a good steak and a side of bread
Hello--0
Never had a Portugese steak sandwich, but from the photos this sort of reminds me of a Japanese gyukatsusando (wagyu katsu sandwich) such as what Don Wagyu used to have in NYC.
That being said, when I look up Portugese steak sandwich online, most of the results look quite different from yours with a much thinner pounded piece of steak.
