So elephant in the room, this is a fucking awful time to be posting this lmao. I wanna be clear that I'm not the other dude who made that 3 Star list. This is just a list for all the high end Japanese places since I felt like there wasn't a great like collected resource for them. I've attached a bunch of the shitty photos I took just so you can see I've been to these places, I apologize for text on some of them – I used to upload these to private stories on Instagram for friends and coworkers. Review will be in the comments since it's too long to fit in one thing

I wrote this all on a google doc so like if anyone has an idea how to format this for reddit please let me know, I’ve never done something like this before lol

Tokyo Bay covers a huge area to be able to narrow it down to 18 places. Still, it’s cheaper here than 18 places stateside.

your last post actually inspired me to make a res at yoshizumi – will be checking it out in a few weeks!

  4. Love this post!

Kind of surprised at Ranzan having ramped up flavor. Thought it was the opposite but I’m not a Kaiseki connoisseur.

Thought that Sushi Ai was good for the price. Something to watch. I didn’t have a lot of blowtorching when I went. Maybe one or two things.

Agree on Utzutzu – really didn’t like it. Just a horrible experience.

  5. Thanks for sharing! My opinions align almost identically with yours (although I haven’t visited a few that opened after I left SF in 2020). I always visit The Shota every time I’m back home and look forward to visiting Shoji soon.

  6. There’s a sushi restaurant called Sushi Sho in El Cerrito(no relation to the other ones).

been a while but I thought the chef was pretty good. Would like your thoughts if you ever get a chance to go
