Wanted to check this place out before it got too busy.
Went today at 12:45pm and no line, no crowd. Unfortunately they were already out of their pulled duck though.
I went with the 2 meat plate (brisket and ham) and 2 sides (pimento Mac and cheese and crawfish cornbread stuffing), and added a small side of the vinegar slaw. $33 plus tip.
The brisket was fantastic, very well seasoned but not overly salty (I find Franklin to be too salty, and I love salt!). The ham was a bit dry and literally cold 🙁 Pimento Mac n cheese slapped flavor wise, but again, cold 🙁 I really have no idea how they managed to serve things cold since I was literally the only person in line, so seems like they just need to work out a few kinks. Vinegar slaw was just what it sounds like but I enjoy a crisp veggie to break up the salt. The crawfish cornbread stuffing was really good! Unique, and well flavored.
I’d give it all a solid B+ knowing it should have been an A+ if everything was warm and I was able to get the duck instead of ham.
This place will certainly explode in popularity so check them out now while there is no line, and get there before 12:45 if you want the duck! 😋
