Downtown Madison has a new neighborhood Italian corner store — Dinotto at 106 S. Webster St.

“[It’s] just like the one my grandparents had in Chicago in the early 1900s,” says co-owner Dino Maniaci.

Maniaci and his partner, Jason Hoke, own two King Street establishments — Woof’s (opened in 2008 at 114 King St.) and D’Vino (opened in late 2019 at 119 King St.). Dinotto, opened on April 14, 2025, is on the back end of the D’Vino building, which formerly housed a Cousins Subs sandwich shop. Dinotto was a product of COVID and having outgrown the D’Vino kitchen, Maniaci says.

“Once [D’Vino] reoriented after COVID as a casual fine dining spot, our kitchen wasn’t able to handle both the dining room volume and the carry out possibilities,” Maniaci says.

He enlarged the kitchen and added the retail storefront offering a menu of sandwiches, take-and-bake offerings and other to-go-oriented items at Dinotto.

Previously, Maniaci co-owned a deli and catering company in Green Bay in the early 1980s, and Hoke studied culinary arts and worked for a James Beard award-winning chef. Dinotto’s sandwich menu has all the Italian classics, including muffuletta, meatball grinder, caprese and chicken and eggplant Parmesan. Others are piled high with salami, mortadella, Italian sausage, Italian beef and the like.
