I just lay long serving spoons against the bag in the bath. Never had an issue.

Yep, been doing this for a while. Mostly use it when caramelizing onions.

Why use weights?
AatonBredon
My weight is a square of chainmail that hangs over the bag and holds it on the rack.

Why use a weight, if you have a good seal?

I’m not wasting that much bag just to save two seconds tossing it in the dishwasher or washing it by hand

I have a stock pot I use, so I just have two strong magnets (NEW rumen magnets, I am a cattle producer) stick to the bottom of the vac back to the bottom and you’re in business.
But this is a smart idea. I like it better than mine.

I use ball bearings and a tea ball. It’s basically a little metal ball for putting tea leaves in. I binder clip it to the bag
Mad_Monster_Mansion
Mine came with little bag clips to keep the bag affixed to the container wall.

Huh. That’s actually a nice hack. So take my upvote and like it, dammit!
Y’all use weights?
Clever!
bold of you to assume i use weights
You can prolly get it right up to the edge, so less is wasted of the bag, too.
Better than me using dinner forks 😆
Why weights?
Clever!
Wait until they find out about the weights with magnets!
Yep, but I use weights that are magnets and just stick them in pairs on the outside of the plastic.

Holy fuck that’s a great idea
I’ve been using [table cloth weights](https://www.amazon.com/Tablecloth-Weights-Heavy-Premium-Clips/dp/B08B5XG3KW) for a few years now. Best sous vide weights I’ve found so far.
