Master Pot is on the 2nd floor of Dragon City Mall at Spadina and Dundas. They specialize in Cantonese clay pot rice. There are a dozen or so options for toppings that get cooked with rice to order. So have to be patient as it takes around 20 minutes to cook.
But it’s worth the wait. The rice absorbs the aroma of the ingredients along with developing a toasty flavour from cooking in the scorching hot clay pot the clay pot. And then you drizzle seasoned soya sauce all over and mix together. As you eat the rice forms crusty bits. A paddle is provided to scrape these bits to enjoy.
Tonight I had my fave combo of chicken with preserved meat. Love the silky texture of the nicely marinated chicken thigh meat. And there’s plenty of tasty preserved pork sausage and the less common preserved liver sausage. All this for $15 which includes a drink when dining in. Such a great deal in Chinatown.
