Serratore’s Pizza and Pasta, a new Italian-American restaurant headed by local chef Josh Decarolis, will open this summer in the space formerly occupied by Radius Pizzeria and Pub at 112 North Churton Street in downtown Hillsborough. A specific opening date was not provided.
Decarolis is a Hillsborough resident and is a partner in two other Italian restaurants in the Triangle: Mother’s and Sons Trattoria in Durham and Alimentari Italian Deli in Raleigh. Decarolis, along with partners Phil Bey and Pietro Costanza, have signed a 10-year lease for the Churton Street location.
“We definitely want to be approachable for everybody,” Decarolis said in a release from the commercial real estate firm Pickett Sprouse, which was involved in the lease deal. “Our goal is to create a relaxed, casual, and welcoming atmosphere throughout the entire restaurant that offers an authentic Italian-American dining experience. Whether you’re coming in for dinner with your family, stopping by for a quick bite, or enjoying the outdoor patio, we want everyone to feel comfortable. We want to fit into the community in Hillsborough, particularly downtown where people are walking around and bouncing from place to place – we want to be one of those places.”
The release said Serratore’s will offer numerous dishes, including fresh pasta with homemade sauces, wood-fired pizzas and an extensive wine and cocktail list. Indoor and outdoor dining spaces will be offered.
Pickett Sprouse said while the restaurant will maintain the footprint of the former Radius space, there will be “cosmetic renovations” to create a new atmosphere. Those renovations are currently underway.
Radius Pizzeria and Pub closed at the end of 2024 after more than 11 years of business.
