Owners of Luna Italian Cuisine in Mechanicsburg are expanding to Dauphin County.
Later this year, Giovanni Scotto and his family will open a Luna at Susquehanna Union Green, a mixed-use development in Susquehanna Township.
Giovanni’s daughter and co-owner Rossella Scotto said the family was approached several months ago about bringing the restaurant to the community developed by The Vartan Group.
“We do think it’s a great opportunity,” she said, noting an Italian restaurant will be a great addition to the area.
Vartan Group CEO Ralph Vartan said Luna is taking space next to Playa Bowls and could open in six months.
Potato Coop and Wendy’s also operate in the development at the corner of Progress Avenue and Linglestown Road.
A Primanti Bros. was scheduled to open at the former Panera in the development but recently paused plans.
Rossella Scotto said chef Tony Coppola will oversee food service and that Luna will have a menu similar to the Mechanicsburg restaurant, with contemporary, modern food and traditional Italian cuisine.
She stressed the restaurant is in the early stages of development.
Earlier this year, the Scottos took over Visaggio’s Ristorante at 6990 Wertzville Road in Silver Spring Township.
Luna opened at Legacy Park in 2023. Giovanni Scotto also owns other restaurants, including Papa Joe’s Pizza & Subs in Swatara Township.
