Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
Welcome to our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Pasta Wars. Three entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Italian Food in the Valley.
Our judgement will be based upon several factors including style of quality, presentation, taste, and overall impression.
We continue this War on the west end of the Lebanon Valley in Palmyra with Lazzaro’s Italian Bistro. Located on North Railroad Street, this restaurant offers classic Italian dining and a large menu.

Our selection for judgement this evening was Eggplant Rollatini ($19) and Rigatoni Vodka ($17). The meal comes with a choice of house salad or soup and bread.
Our eggplant rollatini was stuffed with mushrooms and ricotta, served over a bed of linguine. The eggplant itself tasted great. The tomato sauce was rich with an acidic flavor and subtle on the spices. A classic dish that can bring about a comfort feeling.
The rigatoni vodka came with sautéed fresh tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, and a vodka blush sauce. This dish came out piping hot and had a creamy base to the sauce. We added some extra cheese which made it a delectable bite. Once the temperature cooled down, the little critic and I were able to dig in and enjoyed our selection.
And as a bonus tonight, we had a glass of the homemade sangria wine ($10), and it was delicious.
Did we just have the best Italian in the Valley?
Next up we will travel to our final entrant, Martino’s Italian Traditions. After which, we will announce our winner.
