I did a clean burn at 650 degrees for 2.5 hours and this is the result. The Joe had some mold going because previous owner left closed up with grease all over. Does this look like it is done enough or should I give another go? Gasket didn't seem affected and I don't smell the mold anymore. What should be done with the cap? Coat with avacado oil? Any advice welcomed.

  1. Looks done to me. It’s cleaner than mine and mine is about a year old 😂

Man, that looks great. It’s about time to clean mine. How did you clean your heat deflectors?

If I were you I’d begin thinking how to get a new firebox. That crack is not going away.

  4. To avoid the mold, crack open the bottom and top dampers to allow air to circulate even if you have a cover. For the longest I did not do this with the Big Steel Keg now called Broil King Keg 5000. After 15 years of service and mold, the bottom rusted out of both shells. Did a repair mod and no more mold due to opening the dampers after the fire is out and before covering

Now I need to get me a new one as the mod is started to come undone….

No mold can survive that burn. You’re good.
