The Vancouver restaurant industry can be fickle, and we’ve unfortunately suffered another loss.
After opening in November 2024, it appears that Anthem Sound Lounge has closed its doors just seven months later.
While an official closure announcement from the restaurant has yet to be made, reservations for Anthem Sound Lounge are no longer available, its Instagram is inactive, and it is listed as “Temporarily Closed” on Google.
Located in the heart of Mount Pleasant, the restaurant was the latest concept from local restaurateur Matt Thomson (also known for Park Drive and the now-closed Cannibal Café).
Its menu featured a creative list of cocktails alongside a shareable menu full of snacks, handhelds, and featured Thompson’s pandemic Anthem Pizza project (which is also available at Park Drive).

Additionally, this location was previously the home of Smitty’s Oyster House Main Street, which closed its doors in October 2024.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom, as another restaurant is gearing up to take over the location, specializing in Italian cuisine.
Called Lucia, this restaurant is brought to us from the creators of Harbour Oyster & Bar and Social YVR and is set to open on June 11.
At the helm of this new concept is Chef Zachary Steele, who will bring what is described as a refined yet approachable touch to each dish, combining modern Italian sensibilities with the kind of flavours that would make your Nonna proud.

“We’re thrilled to bring something new and fresh to the Mount Pleasant dining scene,” said Chef Steele. “Lucia is a celebration of food that brings people together, whether it’s for a long lunch, a late-night bite, or simply to sip on one of our signature cocktails.”
Here, customers will find a menu featuring a variety of Italian-inspired dishes made with local ingredients, including pastas, antipasti, pizzas, and more.
Once open, Lucia will operate daily from 11 a.m. to midnight.
