East Van has a new go-to for long dinners, family feasts, and that crucial pre-dinner negroni. Folietta Ristorante and Bar is now open on Nanaimo and Grant, and it’s already making itself at home as the culinary anchor of The Grant development.
From the team behind Tableau Bar Bistro, Maxine’s, and Homer St. Café and Bar, Folietta is the newest—and largest—concept from Wentworth Hospitality Group. This one plants its flag firmly in Grandview-Woodland, focusing on regional Italian fare, seasonal ingredients, and warm hospitality.
“We’ve created Folietta to be a true local favourite, where families, friends, and food lovers can come together over great meals and even better company,” shares Roy Comesotti, VP of Operations at Wentworth Hospitality Group, in a statement.
Led by Executive Chef Bobby Milheron and Chef de Cuisine Imtiaaz Patel, the kitchen puts out handmade pastas, a 32-oz. Bistecca Fiorentina, and standout dishes like a bone-in veal chop parmigiana. Even the bambini menu is flexing, with made-from-scratch rigatoni Alfredo and linguine with meatballs.
“Folietta is all about sharing—just like in Italy,” adds Patel. “We’ve drawn from regional traditions but added a Vancouver lens through local ingredients and seasonal creativity.”
On the drinks front, beverage director J-S Dupuis keeps the Italian spirit flowing with negronis on tap, amaro slushies, and bellinis with serious pedigree. The wine list, curated by GM and sommelier Miguel Arrais, mixes iconic and under-the-radar Italian varietals.
The space, designed by Ste Marie, is equal parts welcoming and elevated, with four dining zones, an open kitchen, and a semi-enclosed patio. Inspired by the Italian word foglietta (meaning foliage), Folietta nods to the neighbourhood’s leafy roots while offering a fresh take on community dining.
Folietta is located at 1480 Nanamio Street and is open daily, starting with an apertivo hour at 3 p.m., followed by dinner service.
