    In west Asia the sweet white onions like this are often soaked in cold water, removing their bitterness! Then they become a crunchy sweet water filled shell that you can load up with dips or meat like she is doing.
    Try it! Cut a white onion in half and let it soak in a bowl of water in your fridge for 40ish mins min and then chomp into a shell of it! It’s yummmmyyyyy

    Ugh met a Persian woman once and she took me to a cafe to try Persian food and when I realized they serve your food with a side of raw white onion???? I think I fell in love with her that same day

    Used to work at an Iranian restaurant and literally watched an older guy eat 4 raw onions over the course of his enormous meal. Not remotely uncommon to see the slightly less intense version of that weekly. Mad respect.
