Jacksonville restaurant closings 2024: Red Lobster, Hooters and more

Some of Jacksonville’s favorite restaurants, from mom-and-pop places to national chains, have closed in 2024.

Siena’s Italian Cuisine, a family-owned restaurant in Jacksonville, has permanently closed after 16 years in business.The restaurant, known for its classic Italian fare and Buffalo, New York-style dining experience, served its last meal on Sunday, March 2.The owners announced the closure on social media, expressing gratitude for their customers’ support over the years.

A longtime Jacksonville restaurant served its final plate of lasagna, Chicago-style stuffed pizza and other classic Italian fare over the weekend before shutting its doors permanently after 16 years.

Siena’s Italian Cuisine closed at the end of service Sunday at 13170 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 26, near Hodges Boulevard in the Publix-anchored Harbour Place shopping center.

The family-owned restaurant announced its closure on social media.

“Dear customers, it is with a heavy heart we share the news — Siena’s Italian Cuisine will be closing its doors,” Siena’s posted on Facebook. “We are incredibly grateful for all the memories made together — celebrating birthdays, special occasions, date nights or simply enjoying a great meal.”

The restaurant also thanked patrons, writing: “Your support and presence have meant the world to us, and we truly appreciate every moment.”

Remaining open is Siena’s Pizza, 150 Fountains Way, Suite 12, at The Fountains at St. Johns in Saint Johns, home to other restaurants including Jax Fish Fry, Grumpy’s Restaurant, Zaxby’s and Culver’s.

The restaurant owners couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Siena’s Italian Cuisine in Jacksonville dates back to 2008, according to online records at the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation and Florida Division of Corporations.

Named for the city of Siena the Tuscany region of Italy, the restaurant offered “a Buffalo, N.Y.-style dining experience,” according to Visit Jacksonville, the official travel website for the city.

In August 2022, Siena’s Italian Cusine was ranked No. 24 according to Tripadvisor on a list of the highest-rated Italian restaurants in Jacksonville reported to Stacker, an online content distribution platform.
