What a waste. Buy a grill brush. Don’t show the onion lovers Reddit

  2. yeroldfatdad

The next person to order will have an allium allergy.

  3. shade1tplea5e

I love how it did little to nothing to the shit on the top shelf lmao

  4. theboywhocriedwolves

I used onion in oil just to grease the grill up but not to clean it.

  5. crunchatize-me-daddy

Keeps the Yellow-Spotted Lizards away so they don’t steal your food while you grill

  6. BigPandaCloud

Onions are kinda expensive for this application.

  7. Hillbillyblues

Basically does nothing but waste an onion.

  8. xxxtrumptacion69

My buddy did this on Memorial Day. Smelled really good

  9. Kurrukurrupa

The onion is more for finish after you brush your grill lol.

  10. BrotatoChip04

This seems super pointless to me, especially if you’re just straight up using the onion to clean the grill. You’re just getting shit on the onion, not making the grill onion flavored (which you wouldn’t be doing anyway)

  11. FastFerrari

After biting a stainless brush bristle, basically a metal needle into my mouth, I would absolutely prefer using an onion.

  12. Ok-Caterpillar-4213

It looks as though the onion did very little to get anything off the grill

  13. squeakynickles

This is fine for cleaning after a cook or two, but God damn those racks gotta get pulled out and scrubbed

  14. Lovelessact

As a Mexican, I can confirm this is a good ritual to keep the bristles and pieces AND the brustles and peaces out of your food. It is also required if you wanna have a “carne asada” instead of a “bbq”.

  15. friendly-skelly

The useless cousin of “use a lemon on your cutting board”

  16. 05C4R66602

bro scrub the grate down first oh my goodness. onion is for after the cleaning of the grates

  17. The_OtherGuy_99

I mean, onions are cheap and I also enjoy doing random shit that has zero meaning or purpose.

    So, I say rock on.

  18. prebisch78

This is Mexican ancestral knowledge passed on from drunken uncle to future drunken uncle — it’s the way of my people

  19. VirtualAdagio4087

What a fun way to burn one side of an onion

  20. Climbincook

I just use a 2lb block of extra sharp cheddar. Usually only need one pass.

  21. If only there was an easier and more effective way to scrape a grill.

  22. Less_Reach_4960

I prefer the “throw a few sheet pans on it and burn the shit off” method.

  23. Snakepli55ken

Mexicans been doing this. She should probably scrap that gunk off before using the onion.

  24. “So, I rubbed an onion on my grill, which was the style at the time.”

  25. AltruisticCucumber58

    thought I was in r/EatItYouFuckinCoward

  26. modthelames

Always clean top grill first because top grill scuzz falls into bottom grill.

  27. Eloquent_Redneck

I’ve used a grill brush my entire life, never once had anyone end up with a bristle in their food. Not saying the onion doesn’t work(judge for yourself) but I do think people are conflating this issue with grill brushes, also makes you wonder how old and beat up it would have to be and then how it would stay on a grill grate, which is a round shape, how it would then stick to the food, survive multiple movements from flipping to plating to finally serving without ever noticing a thick ass steel grill brush bristle

  28. Ok-Money4255

“They say the gristles… they say the bristles be leavin’ pieces… them big brushes be leavin’ breeces. Bristles and pieces ‘n shit, or some’em.

    …Alledgedly, Man.

    …I mean fuck it.”

    A masterpiece.
