One of Detroit’s favorite names in pizza, Supino is planning a third location in 2026.
Set to open in Beverly Hills at the Market Fresh shopping plaza at Southfield and 13 Mile roads, this will be the first Supino Pizzeria in Oakland County.
“We can do a beer-and-a-slice kind of thing, but we can also do special occasions,” said owner Dave Mancini of the vibe of the forthcoming restaurant, which will seat about 80 and have a full bar. “We’re thinking about having a slightly elevated menu. We’re still going to have pizza, but maybe more fish and proteins.”
A favorite in Eastern Market since 2008, Supino Pizzeria serves “East Coast style” pizza with a thin crust. In a city known for thick, square pizza, Supino’s thin and delightfully floppy slices stand out. A New Center location opened on Woodward in 2021, offering pizza, other Italian dishes and a full bar.
“At the point I am now, I’ve got a good team coming out of COVID,” Mancini said. “I stepped away from the kitchen from being in there all the time, and I’ve got a good chef, Mike Mazzola, and I’ve got a good director of operations, Stephanie Schult, so for me to hold on to these quality people I’ve got to create some opportunities for them.”
“This looked like a good opportunity for everyone. Kind of a rising tide lifts all boats philosophy,” he added. “Everybody seems really excited about it.”
Mancini said it’s a project that’s been in the works for a bit, and there’s still a ways to go. Thankfully, he’s got an easygoing landlord, his father-in-law Johnny Karmo, owner of Market Fresh. It was Karmo’s idea to bring Supino to the Beverly Hills shopping plaza.
“We’re thinking probably February or March of next year,” Mancini said of an opening timeline for the new Supino Pizzeria.
Lucky us, we’ve got the two other Supino Pizzerias in the area to tide us over: 2457 Russell in Eastern Market and 6519 Woodward in New Center. Visit supinopizzeria.com.
