So a few weeks ago I posted that I purchased a bell pepper plant but was given (and grew) jalapeños. Folks on this sub were excited because I hadn't tasted a jalapeño before. I enjoyed growing the plant so I went out and got another to grow more jalapeños. I have harvested a few as you can see and am preparing dinner. These peppers do NOT look the same at all so dear Reddit….. what am I getting myself into? TIA.

The smaller pepper should have been left on the vine so it could fully develop. The larger peppers are more mature.

Just different stages of growth. They get darker and darker as they grow and eventually turn red.
The small one might have been picked too early. Hard to say from pic bit if it’s walls are too thin then it’s too early. If you squeeze it and if gives really easy, it has not developed fully and, IMHO will taste like crap with barely any pepper flavor and rather intense bitterness (and also have no heat).
Looks like some nice jalapeños, you can leave them on the plant till they at least start to “blush” and then ripen to red. There’s a good variance on heat since the jalapeño is so commercialized, but it’s usually delicious and a good gateway pepper.
They look like the same peppers to me, the small one should have been left on the plant to grow for another few weeks
Get into some salsa or jalapeño poppers
Those are Jalapeños.
Put on gloves and take out that white vein in the middle of the pepper.
