I saw this at my local Trader Joe’s today (Central Coast, CA) “Platinum Reserve Pinot Noir Eola Springs Vineyard”. I live in wine country and often see TJ private labels featuring very local and high-end wineries. I haven’t seen a Pinot from Willamette Valley before so I picked up a couple of bottles and wow. This is delicious and I guarantee it won’t be around for long. Any insight to the winemaker?

How much?
This is likely something they buy themselves and produce themselves. It does have the AVA on the back label (which is the important label) – but it says vinted and bottled by cultavin cellars. Go look at a few of their other ‘steals’ from California, especially Oregon and see if they’re produced that the same winery.
and the tasting notes are…?
If it’s “Platinum Reserve” then it has to be the best 🤪!
$14 Buck Chuck
About two years ago Trader Joe’s had a black-labeled Willamette Valley Reserve Pinot for $13 and it was SOLID for the price. I kept asking about it coming back in stock with no luck, maybe this is the same thing? If it is, it’s definitely an amazing QPR wine.
Have you ever had Kirkland Signature Willamette pinot noir from Costco? Wonder how TJ’s compare to KS!
A big glut in bulk wines in the marketplace so the private label offerings this year should be much better than usual with higher quality juice available at prices usually seen for the cheap stuff
