My maintenance calories are genuinely around 1,200-1,300 and I’ve just overate so much today like dang. Do I need to still stay at 1,200 tomorrow or do I have to decrease by quite a bit to hit weekly maintenance? I’m not focusing on gaining weight or nothing as I’ve literally JUST started eating at maintenance after a prolonged deficit

Change to week view and see how it spreads out and calculate the week view if you were to still eat 1200 in the upcoming days

I would get more exercise in the next few days, and lower calories by a bit over the next few days (100-200). I’d also eat cleaner to help with the bloating that comes after a day of over eating.

Don’t starve yourself and cut calories in half of anything like that. Better to go for a long walk everyday than to do that.

Just eat at 1200 calories. Just like it takes time to lose fat, it also takes time to gain fat.

The bloat will flush out quickly too. You’ll be fine.

  4. What was your 2000 calories of snacks, a 12 pack of beer?

  5. Danpocryfa

I’d like to know what snacks you’re eating, that are adding up to 2,000+ calories in one day

Unless you’re a small child, there’s no way your maintenance calories are 1200-1300. Do you mean deficit calories?

  7. 1800 cals over budget? no problem, run 18 miles!

Set 1200 as your max for the day but if you’re not hungry then just eat what you’re hungry for. Usually the day after a binge I’m not really hungry in the first place so I end up just naturally end up eating less (and forcing yourself to eat 1200 after you ate a lot can physically hurt…)

dont restrict more or youll most likely end up overeating again. i promise itll be fine to just stay at 1200. youll most likely still be in a deficit for the week. get some good exercise in if youre worried

Op, I know it’s difficult to see it right now- but it is about the weeks, months, years of consistency. It’s not about one day, or about perfection, it’s just about showing up for yourself and making sustainable habits for life. One day is not going to throw you off. You’re not cooked. If you remain in a deficit of 1200 for long enough, this is like a drop in the ocean. You’ll be okay. 1200 is the lowest you should go, if you restrict more as a way to “balance”- you are teetering on the binge/restrict cycle. Just stick to your 1200 and get back on track. Don’t over exercise, don’t under eat.

This is hilarious, especially you telling us what constituted your snack portion. One day is meaningless as long as you get back on track. Exercise more in a day if you can’t help snacking, walking or swimming can do a lot🙂

What is your current weight, height, and biological sex?

  13. ashtree35

Are you sure that your maintenance calories are only 1200-1300? What are your stats (age, sex, height, weight, activity level, exercise)?

And how many calories were you eating prior to now?

  14. EntertainmentLeft882

Dude, I’ve eaten 3000-4000 kcal the past 4 days at a Medieval festival. I’m so god damn bloated, but it was worth it.

  15. Sasquatchamunk

Do not restrict lower than 1200kcal. You had a rough day. It happens. Resume as usual tomorrow.

  16. One day of overeating won’t make you fat. Just like one day of dieting won’t make you skinny.

Take a hike 😉 but for real, plan a day hike for yourself. Burns tons of calories and it’s good for your mental health too ☺️

1200×7 =8,400 cals per week. Subtract the 3093 cals = 5307 left for next 6 days which is 885 cals per day. Is 1200 cals your maintenance or is that what it comes out to after a 500 cal deficit (aka maintenance at 1700, 1200 daily intake to be at a daily 500 deficit)? You got wiggle room if your maintenance is at 1700, so stick with 1200 per day and you’ll see a slower weight loss this week but you’re fine.

This post makes me wary. You say you’re eating at maintenance of 1200-1300 after a prolonged deficit. Exactly how low did you go? 1200 is really only for very short, sedentary, older women. When we say very short, think 5’ or shorter.

I also see that you’re posting in a BED subreddit making me think this is part of a binge/restrict cycle and is therefore something that is way above our pay grade.

i just wanna know what this monster of a snack was …

But jokes aside, if you enjoyed it, thats great. Just get on track tomorrow and don’t try to compensate! Its a blip in the grand scheme of things

You’ll be OK, go for a walk, one day is not a big deal
