I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for summer. Maybe it’s the stubborn resurgence of the cold, wet, gray days here in New York where I live? Nah. I’m always ready for the sun-filled days and endless bounty of ripened stone fruits. (I am a Leo, after all).

After listening to this week’s episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast, I feel like my absolute favorite season can’t come soon enough. You see, after a rather lengthy conversation about balsamic vinegar, of all things, cohosts and Trader Joe’s employees Tara Miller and Matt Sloan broke the news about a brand-new grocery coming to stores in “late summer.” Here’s everything we know so far.

What You Should Know About Trader Joe’s Peach Glaze

The soon-to-launch Peach Glaze hails from Modena, Italy, where the grocer sources all its balsamic vinegars (add a few drops to your next batch of chocolate chip cookies). During a recent trip to Modena, the TJ’s team — including Tara and Matt — sampled two fruity glazes: peach and raspberry. After additional rounds of tasting, the peach-flavored glaze was approved for sale in stores.

It contains 60% balsamic vinegar of Modena, according to Niko (who was in Italy with the team and, presumably, worked at the facility in Modena during the time of sampling), and is flavored with peach purée. There’s also some cornstarch mixed in.

The peach flavor is “very prominent,” says Tara, who tasted it with panna cotta (really living her best life over there in Italy!). It still has plenty of acidity, according to Matt, “that’s different from the vinegar’s acidity” and a “juicy mouth-watering kind of thing going on.” The group thinks it will be “fantastic” on summer salads, grilled veggies, and even bread. Heck, drizzle some on some farmer-approved peach slices while you’re at it.
