For over six decades, Capri Restaurant served up delicious Italian cuisine on E State St. in Downtown Rockford, but a devastating fire in October of 2022 brought it all to an end. Now, almost three years later, dine-in service will be returning soon to Capri’s new location on E Riverside in Loves Park.

There’s no denying that when it comes to great pizza places, the Rockford area is very blessed! Whenever we ask residents what their favorite pizza places in the Rockford area are, here are the ones that typically top the list:

For me, choosing Rockford’s best pizza place is too hard to handle. I can tell you that Capri was one of my favorites growing up, and I was heartbroken when it caught on fire back in 2022, and I was far from the only one who felt that way.
The Return of Capri Restaurant
In September of 2024, Capri reopened for business at their new location at 6480 E Riverside Blvd in Loves Park to the joy of pizza lovers all over Northern Illinois:
Capri’s triumphant comeback was well worth the wait, but one big thing was still missing: dine-in service.
Since September 2024, carryout and outdoor dining were the only services available at Capri’s new location, but that will no longer be the case beginning June 15, 2025.

If you’re worried the new Capri won’t have the same feels as the old one, don’t worry! Capri’s new location features indoor dining, a bar, an outdoor patio, the beloved original sign, and several of the old restaurant’s murals and pictures that have been cleaned and restored.
Many of the original tables and chairs have been refinished, and the new outdoor patio space even features a wrought iron gate that came from the roof of the E State location.
