A grill brush, heat and oil when cooled.

I have a small plastic putty scraper I found one time in my garage and it works well for removing all the caked on ash/fat at the bottom of the bowl.
I use Simple Green and a water hose after that for the once a decade deep clean it gets.

I only deep clean maybe 2x per season. I usually bust the majority of the grit down on the grates with pumice stones and switch to citrusafe and a scotch brite pad for the final detail work. I’m sure the pumice stones will eventually wear the grates down but it’s so infrequently that I don’t stress it.
