New openings

Jean-Pierre

1 / 2

Get a taste of la vie en rose at Black Sheep’s latest opening, Jean-Pierre. Named after co-founder Marc Hofmann’s father, the restaurant is a jubilant homage to the golden age of Parisian bistros and the spirit of French hospitality they represent. Lush velvet banquettes, antiqued mirrors, and a glamorous bar counter ooze charisma while artifacts from Jean-Pierre’s life invite warmth and celebration into the dining room. Heading up the kitchen is chef John Troupis with a triumphant menu of iconic French bistro favourites like a perfectly medium rare steak au poivre, buttery escargots, beef bourguignon that melts in the mouth, and crêpes suzette—a tableside spectacle.

LPM launches CINQ Á SEPT

From 5 pm onwards, LPM is officially the spot to revive our joie de vivre. As a nod to the French tradition of an evening aperitif hour, LPM has launched the “CINQ Á SEPT” menu available from 5 pm-7 pm daily. While the term refers to the French version of ‘happy hour’, it’s also a euphemism for romantic secret affairs. Thus, the menu dances between cocktails named “Elle” meaning ‘her’, “Lui” meaning him, and “La Sucette” for darling. Rather than an LPM coaster, “Lui” is served on a white napkin playfully marked with a kiss. Accompanying these cocktails are complimentary bar bites, including the refreshing burrata and tomato toast and the buttery garlic snails reimagined with a wafer shell.

Clarence expands, introduces new bar bites

1 / 2

Clarence gets bigger and better. The casual French fine dining destination has renovated its bar side to accommodate its growing popularity, creating more seating areas that retain the restaurant’s cosy yet polished atmosphere. “At the end of the day, our mission at Clarence is to make excellent French food accessible across Asia, debunking stereotypes many have about the cuisine, particularly in the region,” Founder Oliver Elzer says. Going hand in hand with the bar expansion is a bar menu that echoes Chef Elzer’s sentiments. Besides French fries with black truffle mayo and Carodet oysters are a range of options, including the Clarence hot dog and hot camembert. As for set menus, which are also available in the new area, the new tomato salad stands out with its refreshing pesto and tomato sorbet. The tender BBQ octopus with za’atar hummus injects a Middle Eastern flair into the menu, while the dover sole filet is moreish without being too heavy, complemented by its generous dotting of peas and other greens.

Each course of the meal offers a choice between two dishes; you could begin with a citrusy smoked salmon with fennel starter and white asparagus cream soup before diving into a plate of smoked pork belly stuffed with sauerkraut, or opt for a Brittany lobster herb salad, pork cheek with sauerkraut, and a generous serving of the prized white asparagus alongside a veal schnitzel. The dessert course paints a delicious portrait of German summertime with a scoop of organic ice cream and summer berries compote, or a dark chocolate mousse with sour cherries and cream.
