I have been making sourdough bread for about two months now. I have watched many YouTube videos and learn so much from this group. I made two loaves yesterday and I have to say I’m very proud of myself.

Recipe is as follows: 500 g of flour, 12 g of salt, 375 g of filtered water and 100 g of starter. In one loaf I added Craisins and orange peel powder.
Mixed water and starter to make a milky solution. Then I added the flour and salt until I had a shaggy dough. I let that rest for one hour. Then I did four sets of stretch and fold with 30 minutes between each set. Rested on my counter for around six hours until the dough looked looked ready to form. I preheated my Dutch oven to 500° and once I put the dough in I decrease the temperature to 450°. I added two ice cubes. (learned that trick from this group!) baked for 30 minutes, then remove the top of the Dutch oven for 10 to 15 minutes to brown. Very happy with the result!

Those look awesome! When you add the ice cubes, are you adding directly into the Dutch oven with the bread?

What flour (brand) did you use? They look absolutely scrumptious!

They look very yummy! But I wonder if you can take the crust a little darker? I sometimes take my loaves out of the Dutch oven and do the final browning right on the oven rack. Personal preference of course 😉

  6. Sounds like you have a good system and don’t forget to feed your starter enough to make great bread.
