As a food writer and professional snacker, I’m always on the hunt for something new to try. Lately, my search has landed at Costco. There are so many new items for summer.
Recently, the grocery warehouse brought back a fan-favorite, sweet-and-spicy dip, which is perfect with pretzel chips. It also combined two desserts into one delicious new freezer find, and fans say it’s banging.
Now, Costco has a snack inspired by one of summer’s most popular desserts. And shoppers are already buying bags in bulk.
Costco’s New Edward Marc Strawberry Shortcake Bites
Summer isn’t complete without strawberry shortcake or that iconic frozen pop inspired by strawberry shortcake. And Costco has a new snack that tastes just like both: Edward Marc Strawberry Shortcake Bites. The 20-ounce bag is $11.79.
If the brand name sounds familiar, it’s the same company behind the Girl Scouts Thin Mints Bites, which are sold at Costco and other retailers. Edward Marc Chocolatier has been around since 1914 and is known for its “candy shop quality snacks” straight from family recipes, like the Snappers caramel clusters made with the company’s secret batch caramel and its almonds covered in chocolate and coconut.
One savvy shopper, @costcohotfinds, recently spotted the new Strawberry Shortcake Bites and posted a PSA on Instagram. In the video, they said these new treats come with a center made of a “crunchy shortbread cookie,” while the outside is coated in “a soft, sweet, strawberry cream.”
“These are absolutely delicious,” they concluded. Commenters were quick to add that these are “my absolute favorite” and how they could “eat the whole bag in one sitting.”
Shoppers also made the immediate connection to those strawberry, crumb-coated frozen pops. When one commenter asked if these bites might be good frozen, people replied that they are “definitely putting them in the freezer.”
One fan even leveled up and said the snack is “good frozen, then chopped up on ice cream.”
The Edward Marc Strawberry Shortcake Bites are available now at Costco stores, and fans are stocking up. One shopper on Instagram said it’s “best to buy two bags (or more)” and another said they “might need 10 bags.”
If you want to try this treat, you’d better hurry and snag a bag before diehard fans clear out the warehouse.
