She is beat up and the grates were rusty. But after a quick pressure washing and getting it scorching hot an scrubbing the grates it looks much better. I had before pics, but my phone didn't save them… I've only had it for a couple days now and I don't miss using my 18 at all. The 22 is the perfect size for my family, we have made steak, chicken, etc. If you are looking at getting a kettle, Imo skip the 18 and get the 22. The extra space and amount of accessories make it worth it! I got my 18 as a birthday gift almost 6 years ago at this point and will happily pass it to my son for his first. Anyhow I can't wait to smoke something on it here soon! Date code says it is from 2008 – 2009, pretty amazing how these grills just keep on kicking.

( When I got the grill it was not assembled correctly, but I moved everything to the proper position. That's why in the 2nd picture the handle is facing the wrong way)

It does have an ash pan, but it’s jacked up. Plan on getting a bucket underneath.

  2. You didn’t tell the story of how you got it for free. But congrats!
