STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — At new Julian’s Market, the shelves are stocked and fridges are filled. With a staff in place ready to serve, management declares Friday, Aug. 30 as the Travis grocer’s first day of business.
Julian’s Market is located at 3579 Victory Blvd. Its seemingly modest space is chockfull of inventory between fresh produce with an organic component, dry goods and pet food, olive oils, imported cookies and a bakery department. There will be a strong emphasis on gourmet imported foods specific to the Italian pantry, said a manager.

At Julian’s Market, a manager said there are several ice cream brands, 40 types of protein bars, 80 soft drink varietals and over 60 items in the gourmet deli.
Freshly made Italian eats are to include rice balls, wraps, panini, soups, sauces, assorted prepared pastas like penne ala vodka and stuffed shells. The store’s cooks will offer dinners to go plus catering. Breads are intended as a niche here with a menu of garlic knots, prosciutto twists and focaccia.

As Julian’s Market gets up and running, it will present smoothies. Applications for beer and wine, plus the lottery are in the works.
The market is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The space at 3579 Victory Blvd. is situated in a section of Travis that might be considered a supermarket desert. The address itself was once part of a more sprawling storefront under different ownership.

In September 2022, former tenant Top Tomato was damaged in a fire that struck the shopping complex. After the store was rebuilt, new owners took the helm. Then, it became Associated Fresh. The collective storefronts subsequently served as homes to two different businesses, the current We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym and, separately, a taqueria. After the taqueria closed, the address lay vacant for several months.

When Julian’s Market arrived on the scene, its new entrepreneurs redid deli cases, installed fresh machinery and revamped refrigeration.
Julian’s Market comes to a commercial hub already rich with food destinations. It is anchored by Fun Station USA with Casa Nova Restaurant, Maynila Filipino food store with its to-go buffet, Ti Amo Pizzeria, 24-hour Brooklyn Bagels and Cafe, Taqueria Allison plus a wine and liquor store.
Other businesses in the shopping center include GlamOur Nails, We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym, J&A Vape Shop, Who’s Next? barber shop and Hollywood Cleaners.
