Patron in Kentish Town is one of our fave French restaurants in London and there’s about to be even more of it to go around as the team is opening a new spot in West Hampstead. French Society won’t be a carbon copy of Patron (like the Finsbury Park site was before it was forced to close) but it will be familiar, both in its Parisian inspiration and in its chef – chef de cuisine Louis, who’s been at Patron for the last seven years, will be leading the kitchen.
His menu is set to include dishes like:
hand-cut steak tartare with fried potatoeswhite asparagus with beurre blancconfit tomato tarte tatinmonkfish Brittany stew with saffron rouilleLonghorn onglet steak with Cafe de Paris buttermousse au chocolatcherry clafoutis
The vibe seems to be very relaxed and dog-friendly too, with the team saying: “It’s a place where you’ll want to return to time & time again, to bask in the energy of the crowd, to be a part of a community, or to enjoy a quiet moment alone. It is a place that feels alive & timeless in its warmth, like a perfectly aged Bordeaux—luxurious, but never too proud to share a joke. It’s a place where time seems to linger, where the conversations flow as effortlessly as the wine.”
