Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 1.5 kg stewing beef, cut into cubes
  • 2-3 tbsp flour (for dusting the beef)
  • 2 medium onions, medium dice
  • 1 large carrot, medium dice
  • 3 celery stalks, medium dice
  • 6 garlic cloves, roughly chopped or crushed
  • 2 bunches green onions, whites thinly sliced, greens cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 liter beef stock

For assembly:

  • 4 to 6 strips of bacon
  • 1 package puff pastry (2x 10" x 10" sheets) thawed
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, freshly shredded (Pre-shredded is gross)
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

    Are the directions to making this just making the stew and then adding it to the puff pastry?
