I’m deciding between two options: the ThermoWorks RFX, currently on sale for $202 for Father’s Day, or the CHEF iQ from Costco. I like that the RFX includes an instant-read thermometer, which I don’t have yet. On the other hand, the CHEF iQ comes with Costco’s generous return policy, which is a big plus—but I’d miss out on the ThermoWorks sale if I wait.
Has anyone used either of these? I’d really appreciate any feedback.

Thermo! But you can’t beat Costcos return policy!
Thermoworks for the win. Always.
That’s a crazy good price for ThermoWorks, it’s much more expensive even on sale where I live. I use signals and love it too.
I have the chef IQ from Costco and it works well. With the RFA you are buying into an ecosystem, where with the chef IQ you are buying two probes that work through an app. They work well to monitor your cooks, schedule alarms when your target tubs are reached. There’s something to be said for that simplicity.
I also have a few Thermoworks app enabled devices, they are also great at what they do and very reliable. But the reality is for an every day cook like a steak or a rotisserie chicken, I’m just gonna grab the chef IQ. If I wanted to run the billows fan to control an overnight cook I’d go with Thermoworks. I did not get the RFX because I can’t justify the price what I’ve already got a MEATER+ and the two probe chef IQ. Also, keep in mind that the RFX probe does not provide ambient temps, while the chef iQ does (app setting to enable displaying them or not).
If you are considering the chef IQ from Costco , definitely check your local warehouse. I got mine off the shelf, as an impulse buy for like $70.
ThermoWorks.
I don’t have the RFX system I use the older Signals system with the bellows but I have several thermopens and they’re all really well made and work well. I also have one of their IR guns that I use for other stuff around the house. Solid all around. Great customer service. They stand behind their gear.
I have the RFX, its awesome for long cooks like Brisket or Pork butts. cant speak to the ChefIQ but Thermoworks hardware is impeccable. I am so happpy with my first few months of using it. and I know they will continue to upgrade the app to make the User experience better with the graphing.. but everything already works like it should, you can see all temp probes from one screen, and it will wake me up in the night when the probes hit target temps. ambient probe is wired which I like, probes machine washable, just cant say enough good things about this compared to other products I have tried in the past. and its always worth the extra bucks when I can keep an eye on temps even from the grocery store etc. PS this is an insane deal with the thermapen included?! I wish I got that Price!!
ThermoWorks every hour of every day. I have the RFX with the Billows and love mine. I have used my RFX with my Egg, oven, and air fryer. I get great support when I had a question as I received an answer very quickly. I have a number of ThermoWorks products and all have been great. You will not want to return the RFX.
The RFX is great, it’s not even a question
I have had no luck with the wireless probes and bought a much cheaper wired probe with a blue tooth transmitter and it has yet fail me.
I have that chef iq as well as a ThermoWorks One.
No question IMO, go with the RFX. Everyone should have a good quality instant read thermometer. That RFX price for both is fantastic and gets you the best in the biz.
Combustion inc is also a fantastic option.
