This is all from the Cartopia pod in Portland, OR.
First 3 pictures are from Tahrir Square; zaatar bread, falafel, hummus.
Pad Thai and curry from BKK Thai. HOLY shit the soycurls in the pad Thai were so freaking good! They actually tasted like sesame wings I used to like from a hibachi restaurant prior to being vegan. They seemed dehydrated but were very flavorful and had a nice crisp.
We also got fries from Potato Champion. They had Vegenaise, truffle ketchup and curry ketchup for vegan sauces

Well I know where I’m getting lunch this weekend! That falafel looks legit!
Don’t sleep on the Asylum pod a block over on 11th, either!
But yes, Tahrir Square is way underrated imo. I pretty much only ever get the falafel wrap, but that’s awesome.
Fuck yeah, when we going, gang??!! 😋😋
Ugh…fucking potato champion slaps for being a simple spud cart. Miss them. 🥔🖤
MAN’OUSHEH!! This makes my Lebanese heart so happy. Fun tip: if you’re ever in the mood for homemade man’ousheh, but feel like the flatbread might be a bit too heavy for you that day, an alternative (slightly bastardized) version is to make it with one of those uncooked tortillas from Costco. You cook one side, take it off the stove, add the zaatar to the cooked side, then add the uncooked side back to the pan until it bubbles. Then you add veggies and fold it over, and boom; crispy, lightweight man’ousheh!
hell yeahhh +1 for vegan egyptian food. have you ever tried koshary? it’s a banger
