Lasagne is a winner in many households, the comforting dish layered with flavours is one you cannot go wrong with. A good bechamel sauce can make or break a lasagne, and while you can purchase ready-made ones at the supermarket, there’s nothing that will beat a good homemade one – especially if you add a tiny bit of spice to it. The next time you make lasagne, there’s one ingredient that is worth adding to the creamy sauce.
The special ingredient was revealed on Reddit after a user shared their quest for some lasagne secrets, and this one recommendation was presented by multiple home cooks, who vowed it was amazing and would completely transform the dish, without even needing much. Nutmeg does “wonders” in a bechamel sauce, according to ChardHealthy, and others were quick to back the recommendation.

While UloPe said: “Yes! Bechamel with nutmeg is so delicious I could eat it straight up…”
Putting the game-changing ingredient to the test is simple thanks to BBC Food’s bechamel sauce recipe. Nutmeg does feature as an optional ingredient. However, home cooks now know it is a must.
