Had 2 weeks for some training in DC so figured I’d make a visit to Fiola.
Overall I was extremely satisfied and felt the quality of the food and presentation was on 2+ stars level. The service was definitely one star as I could feel the sense of urgency in people walking around and certain things like scraping the table between meals did not occur. Just being particular as we all do pay a fine dollar for these experiences.
I chose the non-alcoholic pairing and was blown away by Marcus’s creations. Smoked cherry coke was the highlight with the dry age duck.
Highlights:
Dry Aged pan seared duck w/ smoked cherry coke
Sea Bream w/mezzanotte sauce as a representation of a late night midnight sauce being made in Italy.
Diver scallop seared on one side, texture >>>
Gnocchi with a young pecorino sauce (So soft)
Risotto margherita pizza imitation
The Sicily shaped pistachio crisp w/ piped ricotta w/ mixed in dried apricot and chocolate.
Great birthday dinner and I would visit again. Highly recommend.
For comparison, I’ve been to:
– Daniel (NYC)
– Eleven Madison Park (NYC)
– Kjolle (Lima)
– MIL Experience (Moray)

That ricotta dessert at Fiola is next level. It’s a must have every time we go to DC.
And that cow figurine? We consider it a member of the family at this point.
Happy belated birthday!
what is that tic tac toe plating…
