Recently had a health scare and threw myself back at cooking proper healthy meals, but as we all know between work and life it can be hard. Finally decided to go through the deep freeze to take stock of what all I have to plan out some future meals and found these babies still in primo vacu-seal.

What do you all think? Who all would still eat these. Currently looking at slow cooker recipes.

  1. As long as you haven’t had any power outages it should be safe in theory, but likely you would have had some after so long?

Being tasty is less likely, though the vacuum pack is promising.  For that you can pretty much go by look and smell after it defrosts. If its funny colored or funny smelling, toss it.

Pork isn’t *that* expensive, though, and is enough work I’d toss ’em.

I recently made Sunday Sauce with spareribs (nowhere near this old) and a chunk of chuck roast. It was spectacular, and the long cook time (8 plus hours) and rich flavors cover a lot of sins. I added lentils toward the end and that stretched the meal even further. It made a ton of leftovers which are in my freezer.

I held back a few spareribs and wanted to try something different. I browned those in a Dutch oven, drowned them in salsa verde then roasted for 4 hours at 275, pulled the bones, then gave another half hour. Those made some *excellent* tacos and quesadillas.

Since it’s vacuum sealed you have very little to worry about.
